experienced Workshop Leading Hand to join our Kalgoorlie-based team.

Your Role
As the Workshop Leading Hand, you will be the backbone of
daily workshop operations, ensuring everything runs smoothly on the floor.
This
is a hands-on leadership role, working alongside the crew while also managing
workflow, safety, and quality control.
You will be the key connection between
the team and the Workshop Coordinator, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and
high standards in everything we do.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing vehicle
inspections and testing – Ensuring functionality, safety, and
efficiency.
- Planning and
coordinating daily activities – Allocating tasks and scheduling jobs
effectively.
- Ensuring
high-quality workmanship – Meeting safety and performance standards
within set timeframes.
- Maintaining
compliance –
Ensuring health, safety, and environmental regulations are strictly
followed.
- Conducting regular
workshop inspections – Identifying hazards, defects, and repair needs.
- Training and
mentoring staff –
Sharing knowledge on safety, best practices, and new technologies.
- Fostering a
positive team culture – Encouraging collaboration, productivity, and
accountability.
- Acting as the key
liaison –
Keeping clear communication between the crew and the Workshop Coordinator.
- Identifying
vehicle issues and maintenance plans – Ensuring proactive solutions to
keep the fleet running.
- Reviewing and
signing off on service sheets – Maintaining accurate records and
compliance.
- Providing
after-hours breakdown phone assistance – Supporting urgent repair needs
when required.
What We’re Looking For
- Trade
Qualification (Mechanical/Heavy Vehicle preferred)
- Experience in a
similar role (2+ years)
- Strong knowledge
of heavy vehicles & transport equipment
- Leadership &
team management skills
- Experience with
truck & trailer repairs (road transport industry preferred)
- Relevant
tickets/licenses (Confined Space, Working at Heights, HRWL – LF EWP
desirable)
- Valid Australian
driver’s license (minimum C class)
- Ability to pass a
pre-employment medical
